Roller, Solar and Panel Track Shades
ROLLER SHADES-Very trendy- Beautiful colors and patterns to select from- Material when raised rolls around an aluminum tube- Great option for living and dining rooms- Provides privacy while still allowing plenty of natural light- Room darkening option can be great for bedrooms- Cordless lift most common for child safety
SOLAR SHADES- Great for back of house rooms such as kitchens, family rooms, offices, laundry room and mud rooms.- Easily clened- Great for protecting hardwood floors- Reduces summertime air conditioning bills- Cordless lift most common for child safety- Great for outside porches for sun blocking and privacy with neighhbors
PANEL TRACK SHADES- Vertical version of the roller and solar shades- Great option for sliding doors- Perfect complement to a solar or roller shade in a kitchen window- Shade comes in either 2, 3, 4 or 5 panels (avergae width per panel is appr. 18") on a one-way draw slider or up to 8 panels if split draw- Much more updated look compared to a vinyl vertical blind

CELLULAR SHADE / PLEATED SHADE
- Most commonly used in bedrooms- Vertical honeycomb shade is best suited for sliding doors- Can be light filtering or room darkening- Best product for wintertime insulation- Reduces heat loss through window glass by as much as 45% +- Saves on heating bills- Not too common in downstairs windows as they are not the most attractive treatments for those rooms except on sliders as a vertical style- Cordless lift for child safety- Pleated shades though not that common anymore, have some beautiful designs
- Most commonly used in bedrooms
ZEBRA SHADE- A contemporary take on the traditional sheer Silhouette style type shade
- Light filtering and room darkening materials- Also a trendy product today- Very versatile for controlling visibility and views to outside
FABRIC ROMAN SHADE- Best for living and dining rooms- 1000's of fabrics to select from- Appr. 7 different styles to choose from- A Roman shade has the material fold up as it raises so it has a typical stack of 8"-10"- Can have light filtering or room darkening lining- Typically left in middle of window when raised- May require being 'dressed down' when raising the shades as the fabric may not 'remember' where it's supposed to fold
WOVEN WOOD NATURAL-Same type of product as a fabric roman shade but made from woven material such as wood, jute, grass, reeds and/or bamboo- Does not need to have a liner like the fabric roman shade- A bit more casual than a fabric roman shade- Better suited for back of the house probably but we have still done many in living and dining rooms- Not as popular as they were 5+ years ago
SHEER SHADE- A higher end product that exudes luxury- Beautiful fabric horizontal or vertical slats with a sheer front and back- Soft drapery look for your window- Can be a fragile product and not easy to clean- Also, tends to be a bit outdated anymore replaced by the Zebra Shade

Pros
- Solar, light filtering & room darkening roller shades and honeycomb (cellular) shades are lightweight and when raised take up minimum space.
- Great for maintaining your wonderful views. Be it views of the woods, golf course, lake, ocean etc, these type shades insure maximum visibility when raised.
- Solar shades allow you to have a view through the material but are still great for diffusing direct sunlight and protecting hardwood floors when lowered. Best for kitchens as they can easily be cleaned.
- Light filtering roller shades also allow plenty of light but offer 100% privacy.
- Room darkening roller shades are best for bedrooms and maybe theater rooms as they offer 100% privacy and still block light from coming in.
- Panel track shades just a much nicer look compared to a vinyl vertical blind
- Honeycomb shades provide best insulation for cold
- Zebra shades are a more updated look to the Sheer shades
Cons
- It's all or nothing with shades meaning when the shade is up, you lose privacy and sun can heat up room and fade hardwood
- Sheer shades and honeycomb shades are difficult to clean
